Air Tightness Testing |

|
Why do I need an air tightness test? Most new builds require an air tightness test certificate in conjunction with the SAP energy calculations. The certificate is sent to your building control officer and is required before a completion certificate is granted. What is the purpose of the test? The objective of the test is to help builders eliminate uncontrolled air flow within a house. This means finding and filling all places where air gets in without any means of the owner controlling it. When should I have the test done? The property should be close to completion. All windows and doors fitted with their draught strips. All flooring sealed (flooring fitted is better). Any place where utilities penetrate the external surfaces of the house. How long does it take? If everything goes well - a couple of hours, if remedial work is required, then it will take longer. |
